Description

Working in air conditioned comfort we will be using transparent light activated paints to create very unusual and organic works of art. The colours used in this process are rich and vibrant colours that are quite unique compared to other painting mediums.

We will be working with sacred geometry and nature in this workshop, where you will create a beautiful mandala to hang straight onto your wall when you return home.

Sun Painting or Heliographic Art is a process whereby certain fabric paints are applied to fabric and while still wet, objects like stencils, leaves, feathers are placed onto the wet fabric. It is then placed in the sun. The outlines of the objects are transferred to the fabric. Anything exposed to the sun will set the colour.

*If you wish to bring along some fabric swatches to experiment with please make sure they are light coloured and natural fibres like cotton, wool’s and silks (viscose also dyes well) also needs to be pre-washed and pressed.

*As this workshop goes through the lunch hour please bring it with you as there will be no time to leave and come back.  A shared lunch is recommended but not essential and you are all welcomed regardless at the same table.

*Please note: The only thing that stops this workshop is rain! We have no control over this and if in the unfortunate event of rain, where possible we will postpone the event to the following day or weekend.  Overcast works just fine too, but please put it out there for a nice hot sunny day 🙂
